Memphis Tigers 2020 - College Football Win Total Odds, Picks & Predictions

The Memphis Tigers will start the 2020 college football regular season with a new head coach in Ryan Silverfield. Nevertheless, expectations are high in Memphis after last season the Tigers finished 12-2 and were the highest ranked team in the Group of 5 conferences. Oddsmakers expect Memphis to have another strong season in the American Athletic Conference and have given the Tigers an over/under win total of 9.5.

The Tigers will once again have a high-scoring offense led by returning quarterback Brady White, who last season passed for 4,014 yards with 33 touchdowns. Also returning is sophomore running back Kenneth Gainwell who rushed for 1,459 yards, which was the best for any freshman in the nation last season. Wide receiver Damonte Coxie is back for his senior year after catching 76 passes for 1276 yards and nine touchdowns last season.

The receiving corps will also have tight end Sean Dykes and wideout John “Pop” Williams returning this season. Both Dykes and Williams missed much of last season after suffering injuries. Three of five starters from last season's offensive line return, which will help open holes for the running game and protect White in the pocket while dropping back to pass.

Mike MacIntyre is the new defensive coordinator for Memphis. Seven starters will return from last season's defensive unit. The front four for Memphis will be strong with lineman O'Bryan Goodson, and Joseph Dorceus returning from last season. Dorceus was second for Memphis in tackles for a loss with 14.5 in 2019. The linebackers will be led by JJ Russell who made 58 tackles in 2019 for the second consecutive season. The defensive secondary will be strengthened by the return of safety TJ Carter, who was injured late last season and missed the AAC title game and the Cotton Bowl.

Memphis will have one of the most high-powered offenses in not only the American Athletic Conference put in the nation led by quarterback Brady White, running back Kenneth Gainwell and wide receiver Damonte Coxie. However, the defense has a few question marks at linebacker and in the secondary, but the high scoring offense should be able to outscore the vast majority of the Tigers’ opponents making the OVER a strong choice. Final Pick: Memphis Tigers OVER 9.5
