McNeese at LSU 9/11/2021 - College Football Picks & Predictions

This weekend may not be the best time for McNeese State to visit Baton Rouge, but the FCS school is set to play LSU there on Saturday. LSU was upset by UCLA, but for a season opener, it should not have been too surprising. LSU was coming off a 5-5 season that saw it struggle last year.
This game is made more interesting by the fact that McNeese quarterback Cody Orgeron is the son of LSU coach Ed Orgeron.
McNeese lost to fellow FCS school West Florida 42-36. The Cowboys managed OK on offense but struggled a lot on defense. McNeese gave up 380 yards passing and four touchdowns but held the opposition to 92 yards rushing. For McNeese, Cody Orgeron passed for 367 yards and two touchdowns. McNeese managed 120 yards rushing on 42 carries.
LSU had a similar game, playing well enough o offense, but struggling with defense in a 38-27 loss. Max Johnson passed for 330 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. LSU was held to 49 yards rushing on 25 carries. Kashon Boutte had 148 yards receiving.
LSU gave up 260 yards passing and three touchdowns. LSU gave up 233 yards rushing on 43 carries. Statistically, their game with UCLA was very even, it was more a matter of LSU not being able to punch the ball in when it had an opportunity.
LSU allowed two passes for more than 50 yards against UCLA and has given up 14 of those since the start of last year, which leads the FBS.
