The South Carolina Gamecocks are coming off a lopsided loss at home against Georgia and host Marshall this weekend. It was not surprising the Gamecocks lost to Georgia, but it was perhaps surprising that the Gamecocks rolled up 363 yards on the Bulldogs. Marshall is 2-0 and won relatively close games against schools its own size.

Marshall has a history of surprising Division 1 teams at times, and the Thundering Herd beat the Gamecocks 20 years ago in Columbia, the only meeting between these two schools.

The Gamecocks are led by quarterback Jake Bently, who has passed for 519 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions through two games. Rico Dowdle has run for 165 yards and TySon Williams has run for 105 through two games. The Gamecocks have a healthy 5.5 yards per carry on the ground. Bryan Edwards leads the Gamecocks with 164 yards and three touchdowns receiving. Deebo Samuel has more catches though, and 89 yards receiving.
South Carolina was ranked 24th before the Georgia game and fell out of the polls after the loss. With hurricanes closing in the East Coast, the weather could be a factor.

Isaiah Green leads the Thundering Herd with 550 yards passing, five touchdowns and one interception. He is completing 62 percent of his passes.

Tyre Bray has 182 yards receiving with three touchdowns. Obi Obialo has 107 yards with two touchdowns receiving. Tyler King leads the running game with 98 yards, and Keion Davis has 95 yards rushing. The Thundering Herd is averaging 3.9 yards per rush.

This Gamecocks team is just not as good as people thought and facing an underrated Marshall team it could be upset if South Carolina is not focused this week. At worst think Marshall covers this near two touchdown spread. Final Score Prediction, South Carolina Gamecocks win but fall short ATS 26-17.
