Marshall at North Texas 10/15/21 - NCAA Football Picks & Predictions

The Friday college football schedule will get underway with a battle between the Marshal Thundering Herd and the North Texas Mean Green. The Thundering Herd (3-3) have split their first two Conference USA games and rank sixth nationally in passing offense (357.7 ypg). On Saturday, Marshall needed overtime to escape with a 20-13 home victory versus Old Dominion.

Marshall QB Grant Wells connected with Willie Johnson on a 52-yard touchdown pass to tie the game with 33 seconds remaining in regulation. Wells hit Shadeed Ahmed with the game-winning 22-yard strike in overtime.

The North Texas Mean Green are looking to snap a four-game losing streak and are surrendering 32.2 points on average. Last time out, North Texas was torched for 31 points during the first half of a 48-35 road loss against Missouri. The Mean Green (1-4) gained 493 yards of total offense, but committed four costly turnovers.

North Texas QB Austin Aune threw four second half touchdown passes and finished with 305 yards passing. DeAndre Torrey rushed for 85 yards on 24 carries for the Mean Green.

These two schools have not met since 2016 and North Texas prevailed with a 38-21 home victory. Both teams can move the ball, so the over is my lean on the total. The stronger play is to take the points with the home team. Final Score Prediction, Marshall Thundering Herd win 37-34.
