Marshall at FIU 10/30/20 - College Football Picks & Predictions

The Marshall Thundering Herd are set to visit Riccardo Silva Stadium in Miami, Florida for a C-USA clash against the FIU Panthers. The Marshall Thundering Herd come into this matchup with a 5-0 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent home game against the Florida Atlantic Owls, 20-9. QB Grant Wells struggled to find much consistency through the air for the Thundering Herd as he threw for 251 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 interceptions. RB Brenden Knox had a productive game for Marshall as he racked up 101 rushing yards, 55 receiving yards, and a TD.

The Marshall Thundering Herd were very good on the defensive side of the ball against the Florida Atlantic Owls as they held them to 9 points and a total of 234 yards of offense. LB Tavante Beckett led the way for the Marshall defense with 13 tackles and 1.5 TFLs while DB Joshua Bowers pitched in 11 tackles. The secondary had a productive outing for the Thundering Herd as DB Brandon Drayton hauled in the lone interception of the game.

The FIU Panthers come into this matchup with a 0-3 record, and they will be looking to rebound after dropping their recent home game against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, 19-10. QB Stone Norton struggled to find any offense through the air for the Panthers as he connected on 5 of his 14 pass attempts for 66 yards and 1 TD. WR Nate Jefferson was the only FIU player to record a TD as he hauled in 2 catches for a team-high 38 yards and a TD.

The FIU Panthers struggled on the defensive side of the ball against their FCS opponent Jacksonville State as they allowed them to rack up a total of 444 yards of offense. LB Josh Powell led the way for the FIU defense with 9 tackles. The Panthers were able to get into the Jacksonville state backfield a handful of times as LB Tyson Maeva had a sack while the team racked up 7 TFLs.

The FIU Panthers are coming off an embarrassing loss against the FCS Jacksonville State Gamecocks, but if we were to make excuses, they were without 28 players due to COVID. The Panthers have a very good RB in D’Vonte Price as he has run for 303 yards and 3 TDs this season, and we should expect a heavy dose out of him against Marshall. The Thundering Herd were very good on the defensive side of the ball against FAU, but they had some growing pains with QB Grant Wells as he threw 2 interceptions. FIU has some major problems on the offensive side of the ball, which is concerning, but their defense and ground game should do enough to keep them within this number. Final Score Prediction, Marshall Thundering Herd win but fail to cover ATS 31-14.
