Marshall at Appalachian State 9/23/21 - College Football Picks & Predictions

The week four college football schedule will kick off with a Thursday night matchup between the Marshall Thundering Herd and the Appalachian State Mountaineers. The Thundering Herd (2-1) lost in the Conference USA Championship game last season and have the talent to make a return trip. On Saturday, Marshall was unable to protect a 17-point fourth quarter lead during a disappointing 42-38 home loss versus East Carolina.

Marshall QB Grant Wells threw for 433 yards and was intercepted at the goal line with six seconds remaining. Rasheen Ali rushed 24 times for 189 yards and three touchdowns for the Thundering Herd.

The Appalachian State Mountaineers won nine games last season and finished with a 56-28 victory over North Texas in the Myrtle Beach Bowl. On Saturday, Appalachian State bounced back from a two-point loss at Miami with a 44-10 home victory versus Elon. The Mountaineers (2-1) scored 31 points in the second half and rolled up 528 yards of total offense.

Appalachian State QB Chase Brice threw for 293 yards and accounted for two scores. Cameroon Peoples rushed for 80 yards and found the end zone twice on just 11 carries.
