LSU vs Mississippi State Picks and Prediction – 9/16/2023

Davis Wade Stadium will play host to a Saturday afternoon SEC Conference battle between the LSU Tigers and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The 14th ranked Tigers (1-1) dropped their season opener against a talented Florida State squad and are expected to contend for a conference championship. Last week, LSU stepped down in competition for a 72-10 home victory versus Grambling. 

LSU QB Jayden Daniels just needed one half to complete 18 of 24 passes for 269 yards and five touchdowns. Logan Diggs carried 15 times for 115 yards and a three-yard touchdown plunge. Malik Nabers contributed 87 receiving yards and a touchdown for the Tigers, who gained 622 yards of total offense.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs were devastated by the passing of head coach Mike Leach and have promoted defensive coordinator Zach Arnett to keep things going in Starkville. On Saturday night, Mississippi State improved to 2-0 with a 31-24 overtime victory versus visiting Arizona. The Bulldogs raced out to a 14-0 first quarter lead and took advantage of five turnovers by the Wildcats. 

Mississippi State senior QB Will Rogers attempted just 17 passes, but finished with 162 yards through the air and three touchdowns. Jo’Quavious Marks handled the load on the ground for the Bulldogs with 123 yards on 24 carries and a score.
