The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and Miami Hurricanes are set to visit Shreveport, Louisiana as they will meet in the Walk-On’s Independence Bowl. The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs come into this matchup with a 9-3 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent home game against the UTSA Roadrunners, 41-27. Senior QB J’Mar Smith had a big game through the air for Louisiana Tech as he connected on 25 of his 35 pass attempts for 331 yards and 3 TDs. Junior RB Justin Henderson had a productive game on the ground for the Bulldogs as he ran for 105 yards on 20 carries.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs struggled on the defensive side of the ball against the UTSA Roadrunners as they allowed them to score 27 points and rack up a total of 408 yards of offense. Senior LB Connor Taylor led the way for the Louisiana Tech defense with 9 tackles and 1 TFL. The secondary had a productive outing for the Bulldogs as senior safety James Jackson pitched in 4 tackles while returning an interception for a TD.

The Miami Hurricanes come into this matchup with a 6-6 record, and they will be looking to rebound after dropping their recent road game against the Duke Blue Devils, 27-17. Freshman QB Jarren Williams struggled to find much consistency through the air for Miami as he connected on 11 of his 26 pass attempts for 142 yards and a TD. Sophomore TE Will Mallory was the top target for Williams and the Hurricanes as he hauled in 4 catches for 93 yards.

The Miami Hurricanes were solid on the defensive side of the ball against the Duke Blue Devils as they held them to 27 points and a total of 287 yards of offense. Junior DL Jonathan Garvin led the way for the Miami defense with 10 tackles, 3.5 TFL, 2 sacks, and 1 forced fumble. The Hurricanes were able to get into the Duke backfield a handful of times as senior LB Michael Pinckney, freshman DL Gregory Rousseau, and senior DL Trevon Hill combined for 5.5 TFL and 3.5 sacks.

The Miami Hurricanes have been a mess under 1st-year coach Manny Diaz, and a major problem for them has been their offensive production as they are averaging 27.8 PPG. Louisiana Tech was unable to make the Conference USA Championship Game, but this is a good team as they are sound on both sides of the ball. The Louisiana Tech offense is averaging 34 PPG which could be accredited to QB J’Mar Smith as he has thrown 17 TDs compared to 4 interceptions. Louisiana Tech is holding their opponents to an average of 23.7 PPG, and they will throw a ton of different looks at freshman QB Jarren Williams who will be without his top RB and potentially his backup. The Miami defense will make a few key stops late in the game to help win this game, but don’t be surprised if Louisiana Tech keeps this one close with a chance to steal a win. Final Score Prediction, Miami Hurricanes win but fail to cover ATS 24-21.
