Louisiana Tech at Southern Mississippi 9/19/20 – NCAAF Picks & Predictions

Louisiana Tech is opening up their season in this game here. However, the Golden Eagles are not the top rated opponent the Bulldogs would like to open against. Now, the other thing that the Bulldogs may have issues with is the lack of the opening game against Baylor in which the Bulldogs had to postpone due to coronavirus.

Louisiana Tech is bringing back Aaron Allen who threw for 446 yards and 3 touchdowns last year, but had a pick as well. Allen is only a sophomore who has to replace J’Mar Smith. The lead rusher last year was Justin Henderson and he is coming back for his senior year here. Last season Henderson carried the ball 188times for 1062 yards and 15 touchdowns.

In the last game the Golden Eagles played sloppily on defense and allowed the South Alabama Jaguars to win the game. The loss for the Golden Eagles ended up being a 32-21 loss. The good news is the Golden Eagles offense started to look decent in the game.

Jack Abraham looked really good throwing the ball for the Golden Eagles. Abraham ended up going 22-32 for a total of 314 yards in the game. The rushing offense for the Southern Miss team was led by Frank Gore Jr. who carried the ball 12 times for a total of 32 yards.

With the Bulldogs coming into the game here it could be a challenge for the team, but the Golden Eagles are definitely a team that has not been playing that good on the year defensively. Look for the Golden Eagles to continue to play good in this game as the Bulldogs will rely on a sophomore quarterback to guide the team and without the opening week experience it could make it very difficult for the Bulldogs to win the game. Final Score Prediction, Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles win and cover 24-17.
