Liberty improved to 5-2 after defeating the Maine Black Bears 59-44 for their fifth straight victory. Stephen Calvert passed for five touchdowns. The Flames have won three straight at home and their winning margin during their five-game winning streak is 16.4 points.
Rutgers fell to 1-6 on the season following its 42-7 loss to Minnesota. The Scarlet Knights won their season opener but have lost the last six straight. Rutgers was able to avoid a fourth shutout this season in the Big Ten on a five-yard run by Kay’Ron Adams with just over five minutes remaining. Rutgers gained just 197 yards of offense, while Minnesota gained 443.
