Kentucky at Mississippi State 9/21/19 - College Football Picks & Predictions

Davis Wade Stadium will play host to a Saturday afternoon SEC clash between the Kentucky Wildcats and Mississippi State Bulldogs. Kentucky started off the season with consecutive victories, but faltered down the stretch of a 29-21 home loss versus Florida last weekend. Keaton Smith caught a 13-yard touchdown pass to put the Wildcats ahead 21-10 late in the third quarter. Sawyer Smith threw for 267 yards and two touchdowns. Making his first start for injured Kentucky QB Terry Wilson.

Kentucky converted 8-for-14 on third down conversions, but turned the ball over four times in defeat. The Wildcats’ defense allowed 438 yards of total offense and forced two turnovers.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are looking for increased offensive production under the leadership of second-year head coach Joe Moorhead. On Saturday, Mississippi State allowed a game-tying 100 yard kickoff return for a touchdown during a 31-24 home loss versus Kansas State. The Bulldogs gave up the game winning touchdown with just over five minutes remaining and turned the ball over three times on the afternoon.

Mississippi State QB Tommy Stevens was benched after posting an ugly 28.8 quarterback rating. Osiris Mitchell caught five passes for 74 yards and a touchdown.

Both teams come into this matchup with quarterback question marks, so the under is worth a look. Mississippi State is at home and has the better defense to lean on. Look for the Bulldogs to pull away down the stretch for a win and cover. Huge letdown spot for the Wildcats and Bulldogs are a must win this week. Final Score Prediction, Mississippi State Bulldogs win and cover ATS 27-14.
