Kansas State at Texas Tech 10/23/21 - College Football Picks & Predictions

Texas Tech has benefited from the transfer portal and is one win away from being bowl eligible as it hosts Kansas State this weekend. 

Henri Columbi is the second transfer quarterback to start for the Texas Tech Red Raiders this season, and he has helped the team avoid the injury bug without a hitch. Columbi passed for 124 yards with one touchdown. He ran for 40 yards and one more score.

Tech blew out Kansas and had 240 yards rushing. The Red Raiders were 9-11 on third down. The Red Raiders had an easy time with hapless Kansas but should get a tougher test this week against Kansas State.

The Wildcats have struggled to an 0-3 mark in the Big-12, but they have played the three top teams in those losses. K-State has not been blown out, and lost by six to No. 6 Oklahoma.

Kansas State quarterback Skylar Thompson has passed for 766 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions. He completes 67 percent of his passes. The Wildcats have utilized three quarterbacks, and together they have 1169 yards passing, seven touchdowns, and five interceptions.

Deuce Vaughn leads the running game with 530 yards and five touchdowns. He is averaging five yards per carry and has one run for 59 yards. 

Kansas State is averaging 27.4 points and giving up 24.7. Texas Tech averages 35.7 and is giving up 31.4. The Wildcats have been holding teams to 107 yards rushing but giving up an average of 248 passing. Texas Tech ran the ball strongly last week, but the Red Raiders are averaging 286 yards passing per game.
