The Saturday college football schedule will kick off with a Big 12 Conference showdown between the 25th ranked Kansas State Wildcats and the number seven Texas Longhorns. The defending conference champion Wildcats (6-2) rank third in the conference in total defense and first in points allowed (15.9 ppg). On Saturday, Kansas State limited Houston to 208 yards of total offense and forced two turnovers during a 41-0 home victory. 

Will Howard threw touchdown passes to Garrett Oakley and Phillip Brooks to stake Kansas State to a 14-0 lead. D.J. Giddens carried 13 times for 96 yards and found the end zone twice for the Wildcats. Brooks finished with five catches for a game-high 83 receiving yards. 

Along with Kansas State, the Texas Longhorns are one of five teams in the Big 12 with one conference loss and are still in contention for the College Football playoff. The Longhorns (7-1) feature an incredibly balanced offense and are scoring 34.5 points per game. On Saturday, Texas raced out to a 14-point lead after one quarter and forced three turnovers during a 35-6 home victory versus BYU. 

Texas got on the scoreboard first thanks to a 74-yard punt return touchdown from Xavier Worthy. Jonathan Brooks rushed for a game-high 98 yards and his four-yard touchdown run gave the Longhorns a 14-0 lead. Making his first start, redshirt freshman QB Maalik Murphy threw for 170 yards and two scores.
