On Friday, the Illinois Fighting Illini opened the season on the road with a Big Ten matchup at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana against the Indiana Hoosiers. Illinois opened its regular season with an impressive 38-6 victory over the Wyoming Cowboys on Saturday. Transfer quarterback Tommy DeVito has passed for 194 yards with a pair of touchdowns. Chase Brown has rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns, while Reggie Love III has 46 yards rushing and one touchdown on the ground. The leading receiver is Pat Bryant with 44 yards and one touchdown reception. Jartavius Martin is the leading tackler with seven and Devon Witherspoon is the leader in interceptions with one.

Last season Indiana was 2-10 overall and winless at 0-8 in Big Ten play. The Hoosiers will have a new quarterback under center in Connor Bazelak, who transferred from Missouri and will be pressured by Donaven McCulley and Jack Tuttle for playing time. The receiving corps lost its top two receivers from last season but Cam Campers, a JUCO transfer and Emery Simmons, a transfer from North Carolina give Indiana plenty of talent.

Shaun Shivers will be the featured running back for Indiana after transferring from Auburn, while North Carolina transfer Josh Henderson will play alongside Shivers giving the Hoosiers a talented running game. Indiana's defense will have its strength in the secondary as Taiwan Mullen is 100% healthy after suffering through nagging injuries last season. Bradley Jennings transfers from Miami and will be the anchor of the linebacker corps.

The Illinois Fighting Illini opened their season with an impressive victory over Wyoming on Saturday and will shut down a rebuilt Indiana offense. The Hoosiers will have new players at both quarterback and running back as well as new faces in their receiver corps. In addition, Indiana also has had to rebuild its defense.
