Houston at Navy 10/24/20 - College Football Picks & Predictions

On Saturday, the Houston Cougars visit Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland to play the Navy Midshipmen. Houston is 1-1 following its 43-26 loss to the BYU Cougars on Friday. In the loss, Houston quarterback Clayton Tune passed for 310 yards and two touchdowns and wide receiver Christian Trahan caught three passes for 69 yards and one touchdown, but the Cougars defense gave up 478 yards of total offense to BYU.

Clayton Tune has passed for 629 yards with four touchdowns, two interceptions and has been sacked seven times in just two games. The leading rusher for Houston is Kyle Porter with 151 yards and one touchdown and the leading receiver is Marcus Stevenson with 137 yards and one touchdown reception. On defense, linebacker Donovan Mutin and safety Grant Stuard each have 14 tackles to lead the Cougars.

Navy improved to 3-2 following a 27-23 victory on the road over the East Carolina Pirates. Navy used a strong third quarter in which they scored 14 points to take the Lead that they would not relinquish after being tied at the half 13-13. Navy was led on offense by running back Nelson Smith who rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns. The Midshipmen were outgained by Eastern Carolina 372 to 318 but were able to hold off the Pirates down the stretch.

Quarterback David Morris has passed for 233 yards with one touchdown, one interception and has been sacked three times. Nelson Smith is the leading rusher for Navy with 342 yards and six touchdowns and Jamal Carothers has 311 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Mychal Cooper has 94 yards receiving and one touchdown. On defense, linebacker Diego Fagot has a team-high 40 tackles.

While the OVER is a solid choice here, the play is Navy. The Midshipmen have won three straight after opening with a loss to BYU. Navy has covered the number in seven of its last eight overall and has won seven of its last eight straight up. At home, the Midshipmen have won eight of the last nine SU. Houston on the other hand has failed to cover eight of its last 11 played on Saturday, and is coming off a loss to BYU. Final Score Prediction, Navy Midshipmen win but grab the points just in case 33-30.
