The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors and Houston Cougars are set to meet in the New Mexico Bowl as they will faceoff at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors come into this matchup with a 4-4 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent home game against the UNLV Rebels, 38-21. QB Chevan Cordeiro had a big game for Hawaii as he threw for 252 yards and 1 interception while also leading the team with 88 rushing yards and 2 TDs. RB Calvin Turner had a productive outing for the Rainbow Warriors as he ran for 55 yards and a TD while also adding 77 receiving yards.

The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors were good on the defensive side of the ball against the UNLV Rebels as they held them to 21 points while forcing 3 turnovers. Sophomore LB Darius Muasau led the way for the Hawaii defense with 18 tackles, 2.5 TFLs, and 1 sack. The secondary had a productive outing for the Rainbow Warriors as Donovan Dalton hauled in the lone interception of the game while Cameron Lockridge pitched in 7 tackles and 1 TFL.

The Houston Cougars come into this matchup with a 3-4 record, and they will be looking to rebound after dropping their recent road game against the Memphis Tigers, 30-27. QB Clayton Tune had a productive game for the Cougars as he threw for 270 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 interception, but he also added a rushing TD. WR Christian Trahan was the top target for Tune and the Cougars as he hauled in 5 catches for 84 yards.

The Houston Cougars were solid on the defensive side of the ball against the Memphis Tigers as they held them to 23 points and a total of 310 yards of offense. LB Grant Stuard led the way for the Houston defense with 11 tackles and 2 TFLs. The secondary had a productive outing for the Cougars as safety Hassan Hypolite had 7 tackles while CB Marcus Jones hauled in the lone interception of the game.

The Houston Cougars haven’t been amazing this season as they were blown out by BYU, UCF, and Cincinnati, and I don’t think they are 10 points better than this gritty Hawaii program. The Rainbow Warriors have loved the production out of Chevan Cordeiro as he has been a true dual threat, but they have also been much improved on the defensive side of the ball as they are holding their opponents to an average of 29.2 PPG. The Houston Cougars have an explosive offense, but they are concerning on the defensive side of the ball as they rank 91st in the FBS in points allowed. Hawaii will keep this game close due to their playmakers on offense, but Houston is the more battle-tested team and should pull this one out in their home state. Final Score Prediction, Houston Cougars win but fail to cover ATS 35-31.
