The Georgia Bulldogs are coming off a two-loss season for head coach Kirby Smart and figure to challenge for an SEC Championship. For Georgia to compete for a national championship, they will have to improve on an offense that finished outside the top 40 (424.1 ypg) and scored 32.3 points on average. Senior QB J.T. Daniels threw for 300 plus yards in two of his four starts and will make the Bulldogs more explosive through the air in 2021.
Georgia averaged 174 yards per game on the ground and returns four of their five offensive line starters. The backfield is loaded, with junior RB Zamir White (11 TDs) headlining the group.
The Bulldogs finished 12th last season in total defense (321 ypg) and allowed just 20 points on average. Georgia ranked first in the nation in rush defense (72 ypg) and senior nose tackle Jordan Davis returns to anchor the defensive line. LB Nakobe Dean will start in the middle and led the team with 71 tackles a season ago.
The secondary is cause for concern and will look to fill the holes with key transfers. Former Clemson CB Derion Kendrick is a future pro and Kelee Ringo expects to start on the opposite side.
Head coach Kirby Smart has helped turn Georgia into a powerhouse and there is no shortage of talent in Athens. The defense was outstanding in 2020, but was torched by Alabama and Florida. Georgia opens the season against Clemson and a loss in that game would almost assure another two loss season. Final Season Prediction, Georgia Bulldogs Under 10.5 Wins.
