Fresno State vs Nevada Picks and Prediction – 10/19/2024

The final game of the Friday night college football schedule will feature a battle between the Fresno State Bulldogs and the Nevada Wolf Pack from Mackay Stadium. The Bulldogs (3-3) have dropped consecutive games and rank second in the Mountain West Conference in total defense. On Saturday, Fresno State QB Mikey Keene threw a costly pick six in the fourth quarter during a 25-17 home loss versus Washington State. 

Fresno State RB Elijah Gilliam carried 20 times for 120 yards and a six-yard touchdown. Keene completed 24 of 36 passes for 220 yards and threw multiple interceptions for the fourth time this season. The Bulldogs outgained the Cougars by a 338-295 margin. 

The Nevada Wolf Pack nearly upset a ranked SMU squad in the season opener and have been much more competitive than expected for first year head coach Jeff Choate. The Wolf Pack (3-4) feature a ball-hawking secondary and are allowing 27.1 points per contest. Last week, Nevada erupted for 21 points in the fourth quarter to earn a 42-37 home victory versus Oregon State. 

Nevada RB Savion Red shouldered the load on offense with 137 rushing yards and four touchdowns. QB Brendon Lewis was ineffective through the air, but finished with a game-high 151 rushing yards and a score for the Wolf Pack. 

Fresno State head coach Jeff Tedford stepped down a couple of months before the start of the season and the Bulldogs have failed to live up to expectations. Interim head coach Tim Skipper has proven that he is not the man for the job and QB Mikey Keene needs to be benched. Take a much improved Wolf Pack squad to win at home.
