Florida State at Louisville 10/24/20 - NCAA Football Picks & Predictions

The Florida State Seminoles through three weeks have looked like one of the worst teams in the ACC this season, that is until they upset the then #5 ranked North Carolina Tarheels. With a 31-28 win, Florida State improved to 2-3 on the year with the only other win coming over Jacksonville State. Granted two of their losses came to top 15 ranked Miami and Notre Dame but for the most part Florida State has struggled in 2020. Louisville has dropped four straight games and is coming off a low-scoring 12-7 loss to #4 Notre Dame.

Louisville’s offense is averaging just 24.6 points per game and is averaging 386 total yards which are near the bottom of the ACC. At the helm is the dangerous dual-threat Malik Cunningham who is completing just 62.2% of his passes for 1118 yards for ten touchdowns and five interceptions. Cunningham has added 133 yards and three touchdowns on the ground this season.

Cunningham’s favorite target this season has been junior Tutu Atwell, he’s reeled in 29 passes for 321 yards and 4 touchdowns. Louisville’s dynamic rushing attack is led by Javian Hawkins who is averaging 5.2 yards per carry totaling 520 yards and has found the endzone three times.

Florida State’s offense is averaging 401 yards but has been unable to turn it into a lot of points and is averaging just 24.2 points per game this season. Florida State has been unable to find find a quarterback of the future but appears to have settled on the dual-threat sophomore Jordan Travis who is leading the team in passing with 617 yards. He’s completing just 54% of his passes and has thrown for 617 yards and three touchdowns to three interceptions.

Travis is the team leader in rushing as well with 342 yards and has found the endzone four times. The main workhorse in the runningback room is sophomore La’Damian Webb who is averaging 5.5 yards per carry for 262 yards and three touchdowns in 2020.

Florida State ranks 12th/15 in scoring defense in the ACC and is allowing an abysmal 474.8 total yards per game which also ranks 12th in the ACC. The Seminoles are allowing 192.2 rushing yards per game and despite pulling out a win over North Carolina, still allowed 558 total yards but was solid on third and fourth down as the Tarheels went 2/15 on third and fourth down. Louisville comes in allowing 379.4 yards per game and 29.8 points per game which ranks them in the middle of the pack in the ACC.

Florida State is going to be on a major hangover week after a huge win over #5 North Carolina and now headed on the road to Louisville, this is a major let down spot. Florida State has been awful against the run this season and Louisville’s dynamic rushing attack could cause a ton of problems. With a dual-threat QB in Malik Cunningham and a star in Javian Hawkins at runningback, Louisville is going to get back on the right track with a blowout win over a Florida State team in a big let down spot. Final score prediction, Louisville Cardinals win and cover ATS 38-21.
