Last Updated: 07/06/2020 at 2:33 PM ET

There are high expectations in Gainesville, Florida as the opening kickoff of the 2020 college football regular season approaches. The Gators finished the 2019 regular season at 11-2 and in the final AP Top 25 Poll were ranked No. 6. Florida should have a strong start to the regular season playing five of its first six games at home in the Swamp including battles against SEC rivals such as LSU, Kentucky and South Carolina.

Florida has the advantage that the only notable game in the SEC West that will be played away is against Ole Miss.  The Gators will have returning quarterback Kyle Trask under center, who is likely the best quarterback in the SEC. Trask will lead the Gators against their two toughest opponents LSU and Georgia with the LSU game at home and Georgia on the road.

Keeping Trask healthy will be the most important factor for Florida this season. The senior signal-caller gives Florida consistency it has not had under center for the last 10 years. Trask took over for Feleipe Franks during week 3 of last season and helped lead the Gators to their 11 victories throwing for 2,941 yards and 25 touchdowns with just seven interceptions. Trask added 4 touchdowns on the ground and proved to be a solid scrambler when the pocket fell apart.

Defensively, the Gators will be very strong. The front four will have returnees Tedarrell Slaton and Marlon Dunlap, as well as Kyree Campbell. Georgia Bulldogs transfer Brenton Cox Jr will be the leading edge rusher. The linebackers will be led by James Houston IV and Ventrell Miller. The secondary will likely be Florida's best unit on defense with everyone returning except Jeawon Taylor and C.J. Henderson. The unit will be led by Marco Wilson, Kaiir Elam, Trey Dean III and Jaydon Hill.

The Florida Gators over/under win total has been set at 10. The Gators will have an excellent returning offense led by senior quarterback Kyle Trask and the defense will have several returning starters, with one of the best secondaries in the SEC. Florida will have only one of its toughest conference games on the road at Ole Miss with the others played at home in the Swamp. Final Prediction, Florida Gators win total: OVER 10
