The Florida Atlantic Owls are set to visit Allen E. Paulson Stadium in Statesboro, Georgia for a non-conference clash against the Georgia Southern Eagles. The Florida Atlantic Owls come into this matchup with a 5-1 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent home game against the UMass Minutemen, 24-2. QB Javion Posey had a productive outing for the Owls as he threw for 203 yards while adding 90 rushing yards and a TD. WR TJ Chase was the top target for Posey and Florida Atlantic as he hauled in 4 catches for 79 yards.

The Florida Atlantic Owls were very good on the defensive side of the ball against the UMass Minutemen as they held them scoreless and to a total of 142 yards of offense. LB Ahman Ross and LB Chase Lasater led the way for the Florida Atlantic defense with a combined 12 tackles. The secondary had a productive outing for the Owls as CB Teja Young hauled in an interception while DB Jordan Helm had 5 tackles.

The Georgia Southern Eagles come into this matchup with a 6-4 record, and they will be looking to rebound after dropping their recent road game against the Georgia State Panthers, 30-24. QB Shai Werts didn’t do much through the air for Georgia Southern as he threw for 67 yards, but he did add 40 rushing yards and a TD. RB Logan Wright had a big game on the ground for the Eagles as he compiled 143 yards and 2 TDs on 8 carries.

The Georgia Southern Eagles struggled on the defensive side of the ball against the Georgia State Panthers as they allowed them to score 30 points and rack up a total of 427 yards of offense. DB Anthony Wilson led the way for the Georgia State defense with 12 tackles. The Eagles were able to get into the Georgia State backfield a handful of times as DE Raymond Johnson III had 5 TFLs while LB Rashad Byrd had 1.5 TFLs and a sack.

The Florida Atlantic Owls have been very impressive in their 1st season under Willie Taggart as they are 5-1 with one of the best defenses in college football, and they will get a chance to showcase themselves against a Georgia Southern team that just fired their OC. The Owls have found their necessary spark at QB with Javion Posey as he already leads the team in rushing as he has compiled 332 yards and 3 TDs on 46 carries, and he should be able to slash the Georgia Southern defense with his dual-threat ability. The Owls will have to game plan for the inverted triple-option that Georgia Southern runs, but FAU has been great this season and they are coming off a cancelation which gives them extra time. Final Score Prediction, Florida Atlantic Owls win and cover ATS 24-17.
