FAU at Georgia Southern 9/19/20 - NCAA Football Picks & Predictions

The Florida Atlantic Owls visit Allen E. Paulson Stadium in Statesboro, Georgia on Saturday to play the Georgia Southern Eagles. Quarterback Chris Robison was expected to return and guide the Owls but has left the program and a new signal caller will start under center for FAU on Saturday against the Eagles. Willie Taggart is the new head coach for a program that has won two of the last three titles in the Conference-USA.

Nick Tronti is expected to take the reins at quarterback, while transfer wide receiver Aaron Young is expected to make an immediate impact. Three other wide receivers Yanez Rogers, D’Marcus Adams and T.J. Chase are expected to contribute for the Owls. Malcolm Davidson leads a group of four talented running backs returning from last season. The defense will run a 3-4 but only one lineman returns from last season. Keke Leroy was reinstated and is the anchor at linebacker, while two former starting cornerbacks are gone and the secondary will be suspect at best.

The Georgia Southern Eagles were victorious in their opening game of the season 27-26 over the Campbell Fighting Camels. Quarterback Shai Werts threw for one touchdown and ran for another in the fourth quarter as the Eagles rallied to defeat the Fighting Camels. Georgia Southern was favored by 27.5 points entering the game, but needed 21 second-half points to pull out the victory
