College Football Betting Recap Week 5

Week five of the college football season may have been the most exciting week thus far with 9 ranked teams suffering a loss, while four of those teams lost to an unranked opponent. The number three team in the nation lost for the third time this season through five weeks.

 

#12 Ole Miss at #1 Alabama

The Alabama Crimson Tide again showed why they are the top team in the nation with a 21-point win against Ole Miss. This game was not as close as the score as Alabama pulled off in the second half to coast to the three-touchdown win.

#8 Arkansas at #2 UGA

The Georgia Bulldogs dominated this game in every facet for the full 60 minutes. This game was never in question as Arkansas could not move the ball against the top defense in the nation leading to a 37-0 Georgia win.

# 3 Oregon at Stanford

The curse of the number 3 ranked team in the nation continued in week 5 as the Oregon ducks fail to an unranked Stanford team. Stanford was able to tie the game on the last play of regulation leading to the win in overtime.

Indiana at #4 Penn State

The Penn State Nittany Lions dominated this game from the opening kick winning every quarter. Penn State rolled to a 24-0 win against a lackluster Indiana Hoosiers team.

#5 Iowa at Maryland 

The number 5 ranked team in the nation trailed early 7-0 and trailed 7-3 after the first quarter but a huge second quarter lead to an easy win. I will rely on a stout defense and a good performance from their quarterback to coast to a 37 point victory.

#6 Oklahoma at Kansas State

The Oklahoma Sooners again looked like the shakiest top team in the nation stretching by with another close victory. Quarterback Spencer Rattler had a mediocre game on the road but did enough for Oklahoma to emerge with a 37-31 win.

#7 Cincinnati at #9 Notre Dame 

Turnovers and poor quarterback play from Notre Dame what's the biggest factor in a week five loss to Cincinnati. Cincinnati jumped out to a big lead after a few early turnovers from Notre Dame and the Irish was never able to recover.

#10 Florida Gators at Kentucky Wildcats

The Florida Gators were the highest ranked team in the nation to fall to an unranked Kentucky opponent. Florida blue a late lead being outscored 13-3 in the second half to fall 20-13 in week 5.

#11 Ohio State at Rutgers

This game was never in question as the Ohio State Buckeyes jumped out 24 to 6 after one and held a 45-6 lead going into the half. This game could have got much worse, but Ohio State only scored seven second half points after taking out all the starters.

#14 Michigan at Wisconsin

The Michigan Wolverines took offense to being the underdog in their week five matchup against a 1-2 team leading to a blowout Michigan win. The Wolverines won this game after a big second half outscoring Wisconsin 25-7 leading to a 38-17 win.

Mississippi State at #15 Texas A&M

Mississippi State came into this game with a purpose leading after the first quarter and carrying a four-point lead into the second half. Mississippi State was able to hold on late slipping by Texas A&M on the road with a 26-22 win.

UL Monroe at #16 Coastal Carolina

Coastal Carolina proved to be far too much for a lackluster UL Monroe team scoring in double digits in three of the four quarters. UL Monroe Only managed 2 field goals in the game, while Coastal Carolina poured it on leading to a 59-6 win.

 Western Kentucky at #17 Michigan State

Michigan State dominated this game throughout leading to an easy double digit home win. Michigan State could have won this game by much more but pulled out everyone going into the 4th allowing Western Kentucky to score 15 points.

#18 Fresno State at Hawaii

the Fresno State Bulldogs were rolling in this game through 3/4 heading into the 4th with a 24-10 lead. Fresno State quarterback Jake Haener threw 4 interceptions and fumbled once in the game to a 14-point lead as Hawaii finished the game on a 17-0 run.

#21 Baylor at #19 Oklahoma State 

The Oklahoma State Cowboys jumped out to an early lead going into the half up 14. Baylor retaliated in the second half with two touchdowns of their own but Oklahoma State scored ten points in the fourth quarter to win 24-14.

Arizona State at #20 UCLA

This was a one point game at the half as Arizona State led 24-23. a huge second half from Arizona State led to a 42 -23 win as the sun devils outscored the Bruins 18-0 in the second half.

#22 Auburn at LSU

Another ranked team that was considered an underdog heading into week five pulled out the win. Auburn trailed 19 to 10 heading into the fourth quarter but outscored LSU 14 zero with the final frame to win 24-19

Louisiana Tech at #23 NC State

This was a back-and-forth game throughout as each team won two quarters each. North Carolina State relied on a 21-point second half to slip by Louisiana Tech with a seven-point win at home.

Louisville at #24 Wake Forest

A major ACC showdown saw the Louisville Cardinals come up just short against the Wake Forest demon deacons in week five. Louisville scored 17 fourth quarter points but I Wake Forest field goal late in the game led to a 37-34 Wake Forest win. 

Boston College at #25 Clemson

The Clemson Tigers again struggled in week five against a mediocre ACC opponent at home. Clemson however was able to do enough in the second half of this game to pull out a 19-13 home win.
