Clemson at LSU 1/13/20 - College Football Picks & Predictions

Last Updated: 12/29/2019 at 11:50 PM ET

The 2019 College Football season will come to a conclusion, when the Clemson Tigers and LSU Tigers square off in the CFB National Championship Game from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The third-seeded Tigers are undefeated and trying to win their third national title in the last four years. Clemson’s offense is led by sophomore QB Trevor Lawrence, who has thrown for 3,431 yards and 36 touchdowns this season.

In the Fiesta Bowl, Clemson rallied from a 16-point first half deficit to score a 29-23 victory against Ohio State. Trevor Lawrence connected with Travis Etienne on a 34-yard touchdown pass with less than two minutes remaining for the final margin. Lawrence threw for 259 yards and added 107 yards on the ground for the Tigers.

The LSU Tigers have steamrolled through every opponent with a historically proficient offense that has not been matched in college football history. The top seeded-tigers rank first in the nation in scoring (48.9 ppg) and are searching for their first national championship since 2007. Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow has thrown for 5,208 yards and 55 touchdowns.

In the Peach Bowl, Burrow threw for 403 yards and seven touchdowns during the first half of a 63-28 thumping of Oklahoma. WR Justin Jefferson set a CFP record with 14 catches for 227 yards and four scores. Chris Curry added 89 yards on the ground for the Tigers, who outgained the Sooners by 370 yards.

We have run out of ways to describe the LSU offense. They are the first team in college football history to have a 5,000 yard passer to go along with a 1,000 yard running back and two 1,000 yards receivers. However, Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence has yet to lose as a college starter. Look for LSU to dethrone Clemson in a game that goes over the total. Final Score Prediction, LSU Tigers win and cover ATS but our top play is the over 43-35.
