The Charlotte 49ers are set to visit Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina for a Week 3 clash against the North Carolina Tar Heels. The Charlotte 49ers come into this matchup with a 0-1 record, and they will be looking to rebound after dropping their recent road game against the Appalachian State Mountaineers, 35-20. Junior QB Chris Reynolds struggled to get much going through the air for Charlotte as he only connected on 11 of his 30 pass attempts for 140 yards and 2 interceptions. Senior RB Tre Harbison III had an efficient game on the ground for the 49ers as he ran for 87 yards and 1 TD on 17 carries.

The Charlotte 49ers struggled on the defensive side of the ball against the Appalachian State Mountaineers as they allowed them to score 35 points while racking up 512 yards of offense. Senior DB Ben DeLuca had a big game from the secondary for the 49ers as he recorded a team-high 16 tackles. Junior LB Tyler Murray also had a big game for Charlotte as he pitched in 14 tackles, 1 TFL, and 1 interception.

The North Carolina Tar Heels come into this matchup with a 1-0 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent home game against the Syracuse Orange, 31-6. Sophomore QB Sam Howell struggled to get much going through the air for the Tar Heels as he connected on 25 of his 34 pass attempts for 295 yards, 1 TD, and 2 interceptions. The ground game was efficient for North Carolina as senior RB Michael Carter led the way with 78 rushing yards while junior RB Javonte Williams pitched in 57 rushing yards and 3 TDs.

The North Carolina Tar Heels were very good on the defensive side of the ball as they held the Syracuse Orange to 6 points on 202 yards of offense. Senior LB Chazz Surratt led the way for the North Carolina Tar Heels with 9 tackles, 2.5 TFL, and 2 sacks. The Tar Heels were able to get into the Syracuse backfield a handful of times as LB Jeremiah Gemmel, DL Tomari Fox, and LB Tomon Fox combined for 6 TFL.

The North Carolina Tar Heels may be one of the few competitive pieces in the ACC this season as they dominated the Syracuse Orange even without their explosive offense clicking. The Charlotte 49ers weren’t able to stick with a good Appalachian State team as Chris Reynolds struggled with 2 interceptions, but North Carolina has arguably one of the top offenses in college football which spells trouble for Charlotte. Sam Howell and Dyami Brown are explosive, but the ground attack proved to be a difference against Syracuse as Carter and Williams serve as a one-two punch. The Tar Heels defense will rattle a Charlotte team as Mac Brown has talent all over the field, and they should run away with a fairly simple victory. Final Score Prediction, North Carolina Tar Heels win and cover ATS 41-10.
