Charlotte at FIU 10/12/19 - College Football Picks & Predictions

The Charlotte 49ers are set to visit FIU Stadium in Miami, Florida for a C-USA clash against the Florida International Panthers. The Charlotte 49ers come into this matchup with a 2-3 record, and they will be looking to rebound after dropping their recent home game against the FAU Owls, 45-27. QB Chris Reynolds had an inconsistent game through the air for the Charlotte 49ers as he connected on 15 of his 28 pass attempts for 208 yards, 3 TDs, and 2 interceptions. Sophomore WR Victor Tucker was the top target for the 49ers as he hauled in 6 catches for 115 yards and a TD.

The Charlotte 49ers struggled on the defensive side of the ball against the FAU Owls as they allowed them to score 45 points and rack up a total of 557 yards of offense. Senior DB Marquavis Gibbs led the way for the Charlotte defense with 12 tackles and a pass deflection. Sophomore DB Henry Segura had a solid game from the secondary for the 49ers as he racked up 10 tackles, 2 TFL, and 1 sack. Senior LB Jeff Gemmell racked up the lone interception of the game for the Charlotte defense.

The Florida International Panthers come into this matchup with a 2-3 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent home game against the UMass Minutemen, 44-0. QB James Morgan had a solid game through the air for the FIU Panthers as he threw for 263 yards and 2 TDS. RB Anthony Jones had a big game on the ground for the Panthers as he racked up 115 yards and a TD on 20 carries.

The Florida International Panthers were very good on the defensive side of the ball against the UMass Minutemen as they held them scoreless and to a total of 115 yards of offense. Junior LB Jamal Gates led the way for the Florida International defense as he racked up a total of 6 tackles. The Panthers were able to force the UMass QB into 2 interceptions as Rishard Dames and Sage Lewis came down with the turnovers.

The Charlotte 49ers looked bad on the defensive side of the ball against FAU and Clemson, but they should be able to regroup against an inconsistent FIU team. The 49ers have been fairly solid on the offensive side of the ball this season as they currently rank 31st in college football in points scored while FIU hasn’t had as much success on offense as they rank 86th. Charlotte has a very good RB in Benny LeMay and I expect them to utilize him to open the passing lanes for Chris Reynolds and the offense. The 49ers should be improved on the defensive side of the ball after having two weeks to prepare for the FIU offense, and I expect them to escape Miami with a road win. Final Score Prediction, Charlotte 49ers win and cover ATS 31-28.
