Capital One Bowl - Wisconsin vs South Carolina 1/1/14 - Free Bowl Picks, Odds, & Predictions
CFB: 1:00 PM EST January 1, 2014 TV: ABC
Since 1973 the New Year has kicked off in Orlando Florida at the home of the Citrus Bowl. The 2013 Capital One Bowl should be great game as the Big Ten Wisconsin Badgers face the SEC's South Carolina Gamecocks. SEC looks to maintain it's dominance in the Capital One Bowl, last 5 years SEC has gone 4-1 including last years beatdown 45-31 as Georgia hammered Nebraska.
Wisconsin Badgers and the South Carolina Gamecocks size up for a Florida bowl game and a nice trip from their normal home locales. Both teams finished very well for their season, with the Badgers posting a 9-3 performance and the Gamecocks ending at 10-2.
Wisconsin's rushing and very tight defense will keep South Carolina extremely busy. Badgers two headed run game has been nearly impossible to stop as Melvin Gordo rushed for 1466 yards and James White rushed for 1377 yards. Badgers defense finished 6th in College Football in points allowed per game allowing only 14.8 ppg. Only problem for Badgers is questionable schedule, in two toughest games Wisconsin lost to Ohio State and Arizona State allowing 31 and 32 points.
South Carolina is ranked #9 but with key injury to WR Damiere Byrd it leaves Gamecocks a little less confident. Senior QB Connor Shaw when healthy has made Gamecocks nearly unbeatable, leading South Carolina offense to 34.1 ppg. Maybe bigger question is on the defensive side of the ball as South Carolina defense has had up and down year. Gamecocks defense is only allowing 20.0 ppg but South Carolina run defense is a little questionable.

Free Betting Pick: South Carolina Gamecocks +1.5
Like the Gamecocks offense and defense better than their Wisconsin's and think the SEC continues it's bowl dominance over the Big Ten. The Gamecocks Connor Shaw has been one of the most underrated QB's in CFB the last two years and think he shows off in his South Carolina finale. Also think the South Carolina defense shows off as DE Clowney cements his overall #1 spot on NFL 2014 draft boards. Final Score Prediction, South Carolina Gamecocks dominates winning easy 31-21.
