The Auburn Tigers travel on the road to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium to take on the Ole Miss Rebels. Auburn was upset on the road in a similar spot last week, falling 30-22 on the road to South Carolina and dropped to 2-2 on the season, falling out of the top 25. Ole Miss dropped their second straight game with a 33-21 loss to Arkansas and dropped to 1-3 on the season.

Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss have been one of the most electric offenses in the SEC this season, scoring the ball at will against Alabama two weeks ago and coming in averaging 36.5 points per game.

At the helm is sophomore quarterback Matt Corral, he’s been solid this season completing 69% of his passes for 1280 yards but has thrown 7 interceptions to 11 touchdowns. Corral threw 6 interceptions last week out against Arkansas but outside of last week has been solid all season. Corral’s favorite target has been junior Elijah Moore, he’s caught 42 passes for 575 yards and two touchdowns already and has posted double-digit catches in every game, and is averaging 143 yards per contest.

The Rebels have also had success running the ball this season averaging 204 yards per game, the leading rusher is Jerrion Ealy who is averaging 5.2 yards per carry for 355 yards and has found the endzone 5 times already. Coming off back to back 100 yards games, Ealy will continue to be the workhorse of this Ole Miss rushing attack.

Auburn came in with second-year starter Bo Nix and some high expectations, their offense has faltered and really struggled against South Carolina. Nix is completing just 54.9% of his passes and has already thrown four interceptions, including three against South Carolina. Nix has totaled 869 yards and five touchdowns but the turnovers are a developing issue.

Freshman running back Tank Bigsby leads the way for the Tigers rushing attack that is averaging 149.5 yards per game as a team. Bigsby is averaging just over 6 yards per carry for 303 yards but has only found the endzone once this season. Bo Nix isn’t known as a dual-threat quarterback per say, but he is second on the team with 141 yards and a touchdown.

Ole Miss on defense has really struggled all season long and is allowing an SEC worst 47 points per game while opposing teams are averaging  579 total yards per game. The Ole Miss defense is statistically one of the worst in college football this season but has faced off with Alabama and Florida, two of the best offensive teams in the country this year. Auburn ranks 3rd in scoring defense in the SEC, allowing 24.5 points per game and opposing teams totaling 390 yards per game.

Auburn is coming off a tough loss on the road to South Carolina and came into this season with ultra-high expectations of Bo Nix and an offense that has looked lost at times. Lucky for them, they have the luxury of getting back on track against a defense that is one of the worst in all of college football. Ole Miss hasn’t been able to stop anyone this year and in order to win this game will need to turn this game into a fast-paced, high-scoring affair. Facing a relatively stout Auburn defense, the Tigers bounce back with a road win. Final score prediction, Auburn Tigers win and cover ATS 45-38.
