Appalachian State at South Carolina 11/9/19 - NCAAF Picks & Predictions

The No. 20 ranked Appalachian State Mountaineers visit Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina to play the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday. The Mountaineers fell to 7-1 following a 24-21 upset loss to Georgia Southern on Thursday night. Appalachian State could not stop the Eagles triple-option defense. Zac Thomas rallied the Mountaineers with two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, but the last two Mountaineers drives ended with no points scored.

South Carolina defeated Vanderbilt 24-7 on Saturday. The win improved the Gamecocks to 4-5 on the season. Ryan Hilinski passed for 235 yards, while Bryan Edwards caught 14 passes to lead South Carolina to the win over the Commodores. South Carolina is 3-4 in SEC play and sits in fourth place in the East division. 

Zac Thomas leads Appalachian State with 1,566 yards passing, 14 touchdowns and three interceptions. Darryton Evans leads the Mountaineers with 798 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns. Thomas Hennigan is the leading receiver with 453 yards and four touchdowns. The leading tackler is Akeem Davis-Gaither with 64. 

Ryan Hilinski is the leading passer for South Carolina with 1,752 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions. Tavien Feaster leads the Gamecocks with 625 yards rushing and five touchdowns. Bryan Edwards leads South Carolina in receiving with 726 yards and five touchdowns. Ernest Jones leads the Gamecocks in tackles with 70.

Appalachian State is coming off a big upset loss to Georgia Southern and will look to get back on track against South Carolina. The Gamecocks won their last time out, but will face a tough Mountaineers offense that is scoring an average of 38.5 points per game, while allowing just 19.6 points per game on defense.
