The Sun Belt Conference Championship will take place on Saturday afternoon, when the Appalachian State Mountaineers invade Cajun Field to battle the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns. The Mountaineers (10-2) are riding a six-game winning streak and are allowing just 18.9 points per contest. On Saturday, Appalachian State limited Georgia Southern to 200 yards of total offense during a convincing 27-3 home victory.

Appalachian State took a 17-3 lead late in the third quarter on a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from Jalen Virgil. Chase Brice threw touchdown passes of 36 and 68 yards for the Mountaineers.

The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns are undefeated through eight conference games and are allowing 18.7 points per contest. On Saturday, Louisiana raced out to an 11-point lead after one quarter and held on for a 21-16 home victory versus UL Monroe. The Ragin’ Cajuns (11-1) outgained the Warhawks by a 391-325 margin and averaged nine yards per pass attempt.

Louisiana QB Levi Lewis started the scoring with a 20-yard touchdown run and finished with 163 passing yards. Kyren Lacy caught a 37-yard touchdown pass and Emani Bailey added a two-yard touchdown run for the Ragin’ Cajuns.

Louisiana head coach Billy Napier has been hired by Florida for the same position, but plans to coach this game. The Ragin’ Cajuns overwhelmed the Mountaineers earlier this season, but will return the favor in the championship game. Final Score Prediction, Appalachian State Mountaineers win 31-21.
