On Monday January 10, the No. 3 ranked Georgia Bulldogs play the No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in the CFP National Championship Game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Georgia defeated Michigan 34-11 in the Orange Bowl to reach the title game. Stetson Bennett passed for 313 yards with three touchdowns and the Georgia defense limited Michigan to 328 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers by the Wolverines. Alabama reached the CFP title game with a 27-6 victory over Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl. Alabama quarterback Bryce Young passed for 181 yards with three touchdowns and one interception while Brian Robinson Jr rushed for 204 yards. The Alabama defense held Cincinnati to only 218 yards of total offense while the Crimson Tide gained 482 yards of total offense.

Alabama's offense finished the regular season sixth in the nation in total offense, with an average of 495.0 yards per game and was fourth in scoring with an average of 42.5 points per game. Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young passed for 4,503 yards with 46 touchdowns and five interceptions. Brian Robinson Jr has rushed for 1,275 yards and 14 touchdowns and wide receiver Jameson Williams has 1,507 yards and 15 touchdown receptions. Alabama's defense was seventh in the nation in yards allowed at 304.6 per game and 20th in points allowed at 20.2 points per game.

Alabama arrives at this national championship matchup against Georgia as a 3-point dog even though the Crimson Tide defeated Georgia 41-24 in the SEC Championship game in December.
