A non-conference college football battle will take place on Saturday afternoon, when the Alabama Crimson Tide take on the Miami Hurricanes from Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Crimson Tide continues to be the gold standard in college football and will attempt to repeat as National Champions for the first time in a decade. WR John Metchie caught 55 passes for 916 yards last year and will be the top option in the passing game. RB Brian Robinson will do the heavy sledding for Alabama on the ground.
Alabama has been exposed at times on defense, but still finished last season by allowing 352 yards and 19 points per game. Linebackers Christopher Allen and Will Anderson Jr. wreak havoc in the opponent’s backfield. The secondary is extremely talented and returns Freshman All-American CB Malachi Moore.
The Miami Hurricanes have high expectations this year as D’Eriq King returns as the starting quarterback and all but three starters return for the Hurricanes. Miami will continue its up-tempo attack on offense behind the talented King, who passed for 2686 yards and 23 touchdowns last season. The leading wide receiver returning is Mike Harley and transfer Charleston Rambo from Oklahoma is a big-play threat on each play from scrimmage.
The Hurricanes were torched for 99 points in losing their final two games of the season and changes were made. Miami head coach Manny Diaz hired three new position coaches and will now serve as the play caller on defense.
