2020 Top Safety Recruits - College Football Picks & Predictions

The last line of any defense is the safety position. However, it is one of those positions that tends to have some issues in getting the lack of respect it deserves unless the safety comes up and fills the hole with a thundering bone cracking hit. So, who are the top recruits to come into college this year to deliver the bone crunching hits.

Jordan Toles is the fifth best recruit for the safety position and he is coming out of Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore. The 6’1.5” 190 pound recruit is taking his ability to LSU. However, he has fallen to the fifth position in the in the rankings as he was ranked as high in the nation at 4th.

Antonio Johnson is heading out of East Saint Louis, which is located in Saint Louis, Illinois. Now, Johnson has dropped to 4th in the national rankings from second. He is coming in as one of the top ranked recruits at 6’3” and weighs in as one of the lighter top recruits at 182 pounds. What is really shocking is the fact that instead of staying close to home, Johnson is looking to head to Texas A&M.

Brian Branch has not really changed from his number 3 ranking in the national recruiting scenes for the safety position. Branch is coming out of Sandy Creek in Tyrone, Georgia and is coming in at only 5’11” and 185 pounds. Where Branch is heading he could have some good times, but he may ride the bench at first as he is going to the heavily favored SEC team in Alabama.

One player that really made a huge jump in his stock is Avantae Williams who went from being the 6th ranked recruit for the safety position to the second ranked position. Coming out of Deland, Florida it is easy to see why Williams picked where he is going, Miami of Florida. Williams is coming out of the high school game as one of the smallest recruit s at 5’11” and only 170 pounds.

Jaylon Jones is coming out of Steele which is located in Cibolo, Texas. Jones is not going far from home as he is heading to Texas A&M this fall, which could help him in getting some of his own fan support during the home games. Jones is coming out with average type of size at 6’1.5” and weighing in at 190 pounds.
