Northern Kentucky vs Wright State Picks and Prediction – 3/3/2024

Wright State (17-13, 12-7) and Northern Kentucky (17-13, 12-7) close the regular season against each other on Saturday, and they are tied for fourth place in the Horizon League standings. 

Wright State beat Northern Kentucky by seven earlier this season. Since then, Northern Kentucky has won six of seven games, with its only loss being by a single point. Wright State has also been doing well, going 6-2 since that game, though they lost their last game, ending a three-game win streak.

Wright State has one of the most prolific offenses in the nation, averaging 85.6 points per game. Wright State leads the nation with a 53.1 percent field goal percentage. Of the top seven players in the rotation, only one is below 50 percent.

Unfortunately, the Raiders have a porous defense, allowing 80.4 points per game. Northern Kentucky is averaging 73.6 points and is giving up 71.4 points per game.

All five of the Wright State starters are averaging in double figures. Trey Calvin is averaging 19.4 points. Tanner Holden is averaging 16.1. Brandon Noel is averaging 14.6 points and eight rebounds. Calvin and Alex Huibregsta have more than 50 three-pointers each and both are at 40 percent from there. 

Northern Kentucky is led by Marques Warrick at 19.3 points per game, and Sam VInson is averaging 13.3. Warrick has 59 threes and is shooting 28 percent on those. The Norse are shooting 31 percent from behind the arc and 45 percent overall. Only one starter is shooting better than 45 percent overall.
