The Big South Tournament Championship will take place Sunday afternoon in Charlotte, NC as the Winthrop Eagles take on the Longwood Lancers. Winthrop comes into championship Sunday riding a 10 game win streak after a nine point win in the semifinal to get to the championship. Offensively Winthrop was lights out making 43.5% of their shots and 43.8% from beyond the arc to score 76 total points in the game.
Cory Hightower led all scorers for Winthrop with twenty points on 5 of 11 shooting in 32 minutes. DJ Burns Jr. chipped in a second best 14 points and Patrick Good led the way off the bench scoring a team high 10 points.
The Longwood Lancers have been the top team in the conference all season and come into the championship game riding a seven game win streak. Longwood beat South Carolina Upstate79-70 to get to the championship after shooting 45.3% from the floor.
Offensively Longwood has three players averaging double figures led by Justin Hill scoring a team high 14.3 points per game to go along with a team leading four assists. Isaiah Wilkins chips in a second best 12.6 points per game and leads the team with 6.2 rebounds.
