The Wichita State Shockers visit Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Connecticut on Saturday to play the Connecticut (UConn) Huskies. The Shockers fell to 8-10 on the season following a 54-41 loss to South Florida on Tuesday. Wichita State scored just 15 points during the first half and trailed by only six points after an 11-0 run in the second half, but could get no closer.
UConn improved to 11-8 on the season following its 87-71 win over Tulane last Saturday. The Huskies were led in the win by Jalen Adams with 31 points. Christian Vital and Josh Carlton each scored 18 points. UConn is just 2-4 in American Athletic Conference play.
Markus McDuffie leads the Shockers in scoring with an average of 19.2 points per game. Samajae Haynes-Jones is second in scoring and the leader in assists with averages of 12.7 points and 2.9 assists per game. Jaime Echenique leads the Shockers in rebounds with an average of 5.4 per game. Wichita State is shooting 41.1% from the field and 30.3% from 3-point territory.
Jalen Adams leads UConn in scoring with an average of 18.1 points per game. Two other Huskies are averaging double figures in scoring led by Alterique Gilbert with an average of 13.4 points per game. Christian Vital leads UConn in rebounds with an average of 5.6 per game. Connecticut is shooting 46.1% from the field and 35.7% from 3-point territory.
