Washington State at Southern Methodist 3/20/22 - College Basketball Picks & Predictions

The Washington State Cougars will be in Dallas, TX Sunday afternoon for a round two match up with the SMU Mustangs. Washington state got into round two of the tournament following a 13 point win over Santa Clara on Tuesday. Defensively Washington State dominated the game holding Santa Clara to 30% from the floor 13% from beyond the arc leading to the double digit victory.

Tyrell Roberts led all scorers in the game with 23 points and seven rebounds in 35 minutes from the floor. Efe Abogidi Chipped in a second best 13 points and Dishon Jackson added eight points and eight rebounds in 21 minutes off the bench.

The SMU Mustangs come into Sunday afternoon rolling as of late after winning four of  the last five games played including a double digit win over Nichols  in round one. Offensively SMU did just enough making 39.7% of their shots to score 68 points in the game including 35 in the first half.

Offensively this season SMU has averaged 74.2 points per game on 44.2% shooting as a team. Kendric Davis leads all scorers for SMU averaging 19.1 points per game to go along with a team high 4.5 assists. Marcus Weathers leads the team with 7.6 rebounds per game and scores 12.9 points, while Michael Weathers is the third player averaging double figures scoring 10.8 points per game.

These teams match up very well on paper, but SMU is the better team overall. Look for SMU to use the better offense and their home crowd to get the job done on Sunday. Take SMU to do just enough to win and advance in the NIT. Final Score Prediction, SMU wins and covers 74-67.
