On Wednesday, the No. 9 ranked Virginia Tech Hokies visit McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta, Georgia to play the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The Hokies improved to 13-1 in the season following a 77-66 win over Boston College. The win was Virginia Tech’s eighth straight. Nickeil Alexander-Walker led the Hokies with 25 points and pushed Virginia Tech’s ACC record to 2-0 on the season.
Georgia Tech improved to 9-5 overall and 1-0 in ACC play following its 92-79 win over Wake Forest last Saturday. The Yellow Jackets were led by James Banks III with 20 points. The win was Georgia Tech’s third straight and fourth in its last five overall.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker leads Virginia Tech in scoring with an average of 18.8 points per game. Justin Robinson is the leader in assists with an average of 6.0 per game, while the leading rebounder is Kerry Blackshear Jr. with an average of 5.9 per game. The Hokies are shooting 51.4% from the field and 44.3% from 3-point territory.
Jose Alvarado leads Georgia Tech in scoring and assists with averages of 13.1 points and 3.3 assists per game. Brandon Alston is the only other player for Georgia Tech averaging double figures in scoring at 10.4 points per game. James Banks III leads in rebounding with an average of 8.2 per game. Georgia Tech is shooting 45.9% from the field and 30.5% from 3-point territory.
