The No. 14 ranked Villanova Wildcats visit the Winstrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois on Wednesday to play the DePaul Blue Demons. The Wildcats improved to 16-4 following an 80-52 rout of Seton Hall on Sunday. The win was Villanova’s eighth straight. Phil Booth scored 25 points that included seven 3-pointers. Villanova improved to 7-0 in Big East action.
DePaul fell to 11-8 on the season following its 70-67 loss to Providence on Sunday. The Blue Demons battled to within three points with 1:40 remaining but Providence was able to sink four straight free throws down the stretch to keep DePaul at bay. Paul Reed led the Blue Demons in the loss with 20 points and nine rebounds.
Phil Booth leads the Wildcats in scoring and assists with averages of 18.7 points and 3.9 assists per game. Eric Paschall is the second leading scorer and leader in rebounds with averages of 16.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Villanova is shooting 45.8% from the field and 36.5% from 3-point territory.
Max Strus leads DePaul in scoring and is second in rebounding with averages of 17.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Eli Cain is the second leading scorer and leader in assists with averages of 12.6 points and 3.8 assists per game. Paul Reed is the leading rebounder with an average of 8.0 per game. DePaul is shooting 46.7% from the field and 32.3% from 3-point territory.
