The second round of the NIT tournament will take place Saturday afternoon in Winston Salem, NC as the VCU Rams visit the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. VCU ended a 2 game losing streak with an 11 point win over Princeton in the first round of the tournament on Tuesday. The VCU offense was the difference against Princeton as the Rams shot 58.1% from the floor and 50% from beyond the arc to scored 19 points in the game including 51 in the second half.

Adrian Baldwin Jr. and KeShawn Curry carried the load for VCU scoring a team high 23 points apiece. Vince Williams Jr. chipped in 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Jayden Nunn added 13 points as the four starter in double figures.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons dominated in round one of the NIT after struggling to end the regular season. Wake Forest beat Towson 74-64 after shooting 49% from the floor and 33.3% from beyond the arc. Dallas Walton led all scorers for Wake Forest with 17 points and seven rebounds in 26 minutes on the floor.

Offensively this season Wake Forest has been one of the best teams in their conference averaging 79 points per game on 48.8% shooting as a team. Alondes Williams leads the Wake Forest offense scoring 18.8 points per game to go along with a team high 5.2 assists. Jake LaRavia is second on the team scoring 14.9 points and leads the demon deacons with 6.6 rebounds per game.

The Demon Deacons are the better team in this matchup, and it will show from the opening tip on Saturday. Wake has a far better offense backed with a superior defense that will control the game.
