The UTSA Roadrunners are set to visit Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Oklahoma for a season-opening clash against the Oklahoma Sooners. The UTSA Roadrunners will be looking to rebound from their 2019-2020 campaign as they went 13-19 with a 11th place finish in Conference USA. The Roadrunners will return their leading scorer from a season ago as veteran guard Jhivvan Jackson will be looking to repeat his 2019-2020 success as he averaged 26.8 PPG and 5.6 RPG. Joining Jackson in the backcourt is senior guard Keaton Wallace who was able to average 18.8 PPG.

The UTSA Roadrunners were one of the top scoring teams in college basketball during the 2019-2020 season as they ranked 35th in the country in team scoring as they averaged 76.9 PPG. The Roadrunners struggled on the defensive side of the court last season as they ranked 329th in the country in points allowed as they allowed their opponents to score an average of 77 PPG.

The Oklahoma Sooners will be looking to repeat some of their success from the 2019-2020 season as they went 19-12 with a 3rd place finish in the Big 12. The Oklahoma Sooners will need to replace their leading scorer from a season ago as Kristian Doolittle graduated after averaging 15.8 PPG and 8.9 RPG. The Sooners will be dependent on Austin Reaves (14.7 PPG, 5.3 RPG) and Brady Manek (14.4 PPG, 6.2 RPG) to shoulder the majority of the offense.

The Oklahoma Sooners struggled to score the basketball during the 2019-2020 season as they ranked 206thin the country in team scoring as they scored an average of 70.2 PPG. The Sooners were much better on the defensive side of the court last season as they ranked 121st in the country in points allowed as they held their opponents to an average of 67.4 PPG.

The UTSA Roadrunners weren’t great last season as they went 13-19, but they have a ton of key pieces returning with Jackson and Wallace who combined for 45.6 PPG last year. The Oklahoma Sooners will need to find a replacement in the frontcourt with the loss of Kristian Doolitte, and I think that will be a hard adjustment considering he was the leading scorer and rebounder. The Roadrunners shouldn’t have much of a problem putting up points against the Oklahoma Sooners as they averaged 76.9 PPG during the 2019-2020 season, and that should be enough to keep them within this big number. Final Score Prediction, Oklahoma Sooners win but fail to cover ATS 76-68.
