The Utah valley Wolverines take a road trip this weekend to Colorado for a second round matchup in the NIT tournament against Colorado. Utah Valley comes into Colorado with 26 wins on the year following a 14 point victory over New Mexico in round one of the tournament. Offensively Utah Valley dominated the game pouring in 83 points including 46 in the first half on 47.2% shooting and 38.9% from beyond the arc. Defensively the Wolverines were the better team as well allowing just 69 points on 40.6% shooting and forced nine turnovers, while reeling in 11 more rebounds as well.

Le’Tre Darhard is the offensive leader for Utah Valley this season averaging 14 points per game on 43.7% shooting from the floor. Justin Harmon is second on the team averaging 13.7 points per game and Trey Woodbury chips in averaging 13.3 points to go along with a team leading 4.5 assists as well. Aziz Bandago averages 11.4 points and a team high 10.2 rebounds per game.

The Colorado Buffaloes come into the second round two games above .500 following a narrow one point victory over Seton Hall in round one. Defensively Colorado was fantastic allowing just 64 points including only 27 in the first half on 36.7% shooting and 22.2% from beyond the arc. Offensively Colorado did just enough making nearly 39% of their shots but knocked down 10 triples and 13 free throws to score 65 points in 40 minutes resulting in the victory.

Tristan da Silva is the leader for Colorado this season averaging 16 points per game on 49.9% shooting from the floor. KJ Simpson averages 15.9 points as the only other player in double figures to go along with the team leading 3.8 assists and J’Vonne Hadley is third on the team scoring eight points per game as well. Big man Luke O’Brien averages a team leading 5.6 rebounds to go along with 6.1 points per game.

Both teams come into the second round playing good basketball, but Colorado has the edge in this game. Colorado is the better overall team and will lean on their conference schedule and home fans in this game.
