USC vs Arizona 3/12/20 - College Basketball Picks & Predictions

The Arizona Wildcats and USC Trojans are set to visit T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada for a Pac-12 quarterfinal matchup. The Arizona Wildcats come into this matchup with a 21-11 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their 1st round game against the Washington Huskies, 77-70. Leading the way for the Arizona Wildcats was freshman guard Josh Green as he recorded 19 points and 4 rebounds. Joining Green in the backcourt was senior guard Dylan Smith who had a productive outing for the Wildcats with 14 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds.

The Arizona Wildcats struggled shooting the ball against the Washington Huskies as they connected on 23 of their 58 field goal attempts (39.7%), and they were slightly worse from behind the three-point line (37.5%). The Arizona Wildcats won the turnover battle against the Washington Huskies (19-13), but they were edged out by the Huskies in the rebounding department (41-32).

The USC Trojans come into this matchup with a 22-9 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent home game against the UCLA Bruins, 54-52. Leading the way for the USC Trojans was senior guard Jonah Matthews as he recorded 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. Freshman forward Onyeka Okongwu had a productive outing for the Trojans as he pitched in 16 points and 6 rebounds.

The USC Trojans struggled shooting the ball against the UCLA Bruins as they connected on 21 of their 51 field goal attempts (41.2%), but they were solid from behind the three-point line (41.2%). The USC Trojans won the turnover battle against the UCLA Bruins (12-11), and they edged out the Bruins in the rebounding department (34-31).

The Arizona Wildcats didn’t have an ideal season to their standards as they went 10-8 in Pac-12 play which earned them the 5th seed, and they will be tasked with trying to overcome a USC team that has won 3 straight games. The Trojans have been great on the defensive side of the court this season as they are holding their opponents to an average of 64.3 PPG, and that was evident in the recent meeting between these two teams as Arizona only scored 48 points on 28.1% shooting. Freshman center Onyeka Okongwu has been excellent for USC this season as he is averaging 16.2 PPG, 8.6 RPG, and 2.7 BPG, and with the Arizona frontcourt being depleted, I don’t see them having much success stopping the future lottery pick. Arizona is playing on back-to-back nights which could be a factor, but regardless I like the Trojans in this game. Final Score Prediction, USC Trojans win and cover ATS 72-70.
