UMASS at St. Louis 3/1/21 - College Basketball Picks & Predictions

The UMass Minutemen are set to visit Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri for an A-10 clash against the Saint Louis Billikens. The UMass Minutemen come into this matchup with a 7-5 record, and they will be looking to rebound after dropping their recent road game against the Richmond Spiders, 79-65. Leading the way for the UMass Minutemen was freshman forward Dyondre Dominguez as he recorded 15 points off the bench. Freshman T.J. Weeks had a productive outing for the Minutemen as he pitched in 14 points and 5 rebounds.

The UMass Minutemen had a solid shooting game against the Richmond Spiders as they connected on 24 of their 55 field goal attempts (43.6%), but they struggled from behind the three-point line (25.9%). The UMass Minutemen lost the turnover battle against the Richmond Spiders (13-6), and they were edged out by the Spiders in the rebounding department (37-31).

The Saint Louis Billikens come into this matchup with a 12-5 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent home game against the Richmond Spiders, 72-67. Leading the way for the Saint Louis Billikens was senior forward Hasahn French as he recorded 15 points and 9 rebounds. Senior guard Javonte Perkins had a productive outing for the Billikens as he pitched in 15 points and 7 rebounds.

The Saint Louis Billikens had a good shooting game against the Richmond Spiders as they connected on 28 of their 54 field goal attempts (51.9%), and they were even better from behind the three-point line (54.5%). The Saint Louis Billikens lost the turnover battle against the Richmond Spiders (13-8), but they dominated the Spiders in the rebounding department (41-21).

The Saint Louis Billikens are still one of the favorites in the A-10 even though they bring in a 5-4 conference record, and they will need to continue catch their footing as they haven’t looked right since the COVID pause. The Billikens have one of the best backcourt duos in the A-10 as Javonte Perkins leads the way with 16.9 PPG while Jordan Goodwin is pitching in 14.6 PPG and 10.2 RPG, but the strength of this team is on the defensive side of the court as they are holding their opponents to an average of 64.7 PPG. The UMass Minutemen have shown promise all season long, but the biggest problem has been they have only played 12 games this season with 1 game since February 6th. Saint Louis is coming off a solid win against Richmond while the Minutemen lost to Richmond by 14 in their recent game, and I expect the Billikens to win this one at home. Final Score Prediction, Saint Louis Billikens win and cover ATS 75-63.
