The UConn Huskies will be in Hawaii again Wednesday afternoon for a match-up with the Dayton Flyers. UConn has been struggling in Hawaii as they have lost both games in the tournament following their narrow loss to Colorado on Tuesday. Offensively UConn is one of the best teams in the country averaging 90.4 points on 52.2% shooting from the floor. The UConn defense has been top tier as well allowing 60.6 points per game overall this season but have allowed well above that in each game thus far in Hawaii. Offensively UConn was top tier against Colorado on Tuesday scoring 72 points including forty in the first half on 48.1% shooting from the floor. UConn made 12 triples and knocked down 77% of their free throws despite the loss. Freshman Liam McNeely led the way for UConn with 20 points on nine shots and 33 minutes. Solo Ball chipped in 16 points and 32 minutes, while Hassan Diarra added eleven points as the third starter in double figures. The other two UConn  starters combined to score 14 total points on 13 shots in the game.

The Dayton Flyers have five wins and two losses on the year coming into Wednesday following a narrow loss to Iowa State Tuesday night. Offensively Dayton has been strong enough this season averaging 79.2 points on 47.6% shooting from the floor. Defensively the Flyers have been solid as well allowing 65.3 points per game through the first seven games of the season.

Offensively Dayton found their groove against Iowa State scoring 84 points on 50% shooting from the floor knocked down 7 triples in the game. The Flyers also won the rebounding battle but turned the ball over 11 times resulting in the loss. Malachi Smith carried the load for the Dayton offense against Iowa State with 22 points on nine shots and 31 minutes. Enoch Cheeks chipped in heavily with 16 points on eight shots, while Zed Key added 15 points in 25 minutes. Nate Santos was the 4th Dayton starter in double digits with 12 points on 13 shots and 31 minutes.

UConn came into this tournament ranked #2 in the nation and has dropped two in a row. Look for the Huskies to get it all together late Wednesday night as they do the work against Dayton.
