The UCLA Bruins visit Fifth Third Avenue in Cincinnati, Ohio on Wednesday to play the Cincinnati Bearcats. UCLA dropped to 7-3 on the season with a 74-72 loss to Belmont at home. UCLA had the ball with one last chance to tie or win, but Cody Riley turned the ball over with an errant pass. Kris Wilkes scored 20 points with 19 in the first half. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Bruins.
Cincinnati took it on the chin Saturday falling to Mississippi State 70-59 and dropping to 9-2 for the season. Cincinnati is used to dealing out defensive blows, but the Bearcats were given a dose of their own medicine, as the Bulldogs held the Bearcats scoreless for over four minutes in the second half. Jarron Cumberland led the Bearcats in the loss with 21 points.
Kris Wilkes leads the Bruins in scoring with an average of 17.4 points per game. Freshman Moses Brown is third in scoring and first in rebounding with averages of 11.8 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. The leader in assists is Jaylen Hands with an average of 6.8 per game. UCLA is shooting 46.1% from the field and 34.8% from 3-point territory.
Jarrod Cumberland leads the Bearcats in scoring with an average of 15.8 points per game and is one of three Cincinnati players averaging double figures in scoring. Tre Scott leads the Bearcats in rebounds with an average of 6.5 per game, while Justin Jenifer is the leader in assists with an average of 4.3 per game. Cincinnati is shooting 46.5% from the field and 33.7% from 3-point territory.
