The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos travel to Fullerton, CA on Thursday for a game against the Cal State Fullerton Titans in a matchup of teams from the Big West Conference.  In their last game, UC Santa Barbara was defeated by UC Davis by the score of 84-75.  Max Heidegger led the Gauchos in scoring in the game with 31 points while shooting 11 of 19 from the field and 1 of 3 from the free throw line.  Amadou Sow was the leading rebounder on the night for UC Santa Barbara as he pulled in 8 rebounds, including 4 on the offensive boards.  Brandon Cyrus led the Gauchos in assists on the night with 4, while playing 27 minutes in the game against UC Davis.

After the loss to UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara is now 16-9 on the season and 5-5 in conference play, which is good enough for 4th place in the Big West Conference.  Amadou Sow has led the Gauchos in scoring on the season as he has averaged 14.8 points per game while shooting 57% from the field and 74.7% from the free throw line.  Sow is also UC Santa Barbara’s leading rebounder on the year as he has averaged 7.3 rebounds per game, including 2.4 offensive rebounds per game.  JaQuori McLaughlin leads the Gauchos in assists per game this season with an average of 3.7.

The Cal State Fullerton Titans welcome the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos to town on Thursday after winning their last game against Cal Poly by the score of 105-101 in four overtimes.  Brandon Kamga led the way offensively for the Titans as he scored 27 points while shooting 9 of 14 from the field and 6 of 9 from the free throw line.  Jackson Rowe led Cal State Fullerton in rebounding on the night with 17, with 1 coming offensively.  Austen Awosika was the leader in assists in the game for the Titans with 8 while playing a total of 55 minutes against Cal Poly.

With the win over Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton improved to 10-16 on the season and 5-6 in conference play, placing them in 6th place in the Big West Conference.  Brandon Kamga has been the leading scorer on the year for Cal State Fullerton as he has recorded 15.2 points per game while shooting 42.1% from the field and 80.6% from the free throw line.  Davone Clare has been the leading rebounder on the year for the Titans as he has pulled in 5.6 rebounds per game.  Austen Awosika leads the Titans in assists per game this season with an average of 4.

The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos have scored an average of 72.1 points per game on the year while allowing 67.3 points per game.  The Cal State Fullerton Titans have scored 68.5 points per game this season while allowing 71 points per game.  In their last 5 games, the Gauchos are 3-2 while the Titans are 2-3.  UC Santa Barbara has been a much better team than Cal State Fullerton this season and their record reflects that.  But the Gauchos also have better numbers in points per game, pints allowed per game, rebounds, assists and field goal percentage.  This will be the first meeting of the season between these two teams and although Cal State Fullerton has home court advantage, I just don’t see them coming away with a win in this one.  Final score prediction, UC Santa Barbara wins and covers ATS, 75-68.
