These 2 teams meet Sunday after each won in the 1st round. Loyola was able to get by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as Tech couldn't keep up with the Ramblers. Illinois rolled in the first round much like the rest of the year. Loyola has a top 2 national defense, while Illinois ranks 15th offensively. The Ramblers haven't seen anything like this Illinois team and the Illini will over power the Ramblers . To much size and an offense that averages more than 10 points per game will lead Illinois to the win.

Both team are off big first round wins to secure a second round birth. The Mean Green pulled off the upset over Purdue, while Villanova secured a win as the favorite. Villanova scores nearly 5 more points per game than North Texas, while the Mean Green allow more then 5 points less. Villanova will again be without Gillespie and the lack of production from the guard spot leaves the door open. North Texas may not win this game but will do more than enough to cover backed by an offense scoring more than 70 points per game.
