The Tulane Green Wave play the UConn Huskies on Thursday in the opening round of the American Athletic Conference tournament at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.Tulane finished its regular season with a record 12-18 overall and 4-14 in the AAC following 80-76 loss to UConn in the final game of the regular season for both. Tulane ended the regular season with three consecutive losses.

Teshaun Hightower is the leading scorer for Tulane with an average of 15.9 points per game, while Christion Thompson is the second leading scorer, leading rebounder and leader in assists with averages of 14.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. Tulane has three players averaging double figures in scoring.

UConn finished its regular season with an overall record of 19-12 and 10-8 in the AAC following its 80-76 victory over Tulane on Sunday. Christian Vital was the leading scorer for the Huskies with 28 points while Isaiah Whaley posted a double-double. The Huskies will meet the Green Wave in the first round of the AAC tournament.

Christian Vital is leading UConn in scoring and rebounding with averages of 16.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, while Alterique Gilbert is the leader in assists with an average of 3.8 per game. James Bouknight is the second leading scorer with an average of 13.0 points per game and one of just two players for the Huskies averaging double figures in scoring. 

Tulane was defeated straight up by Connecticut twice this season but the Green Wave were able to cover the number in both losses. The most recent was the last game of the regular season on March 8 in which the Huskies defeated the Green Wave 80-76, but Tulane covered as 6.5-point home dogs.
