Notre Dame defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide 78-64 on Friday in the first round. Cormac Ryan was the leading scorer for Notre Dame with 29 points. Notre Dame shot 53.7% overall and 62.5% from 3-point territory. The Irish held Alabama to 40.6% shooting.

The leading score for Texas Tech was Bryson Williams with 20 points. The Red Raiders shot 66.7% overall and an impressive 60.0% from three-point territory. Texas Tech committed only 12 turnovers and forced Montana State into turning the ball over 16 times. The Red Raiders outrebounded the Bobcats 34-26.
